Located in Zarzis, Tunisia, we designed the Multi-Purpose Sports Hall as a contemporary sports facility developed as part of a competition project, intended to host indoor sports activities and large-scale public events with a capacity of approximately 2,000 spectators.
Our architectural approach is guided by a clear and functional organization, with the building strategically positioned parallel to the main road and oriented along a North–South axis to optimize natural lighting conditions and overall spatial efficiency.
We structured the project around a strict separation between public areas and athletes’ zones, ensuring smooth circulation, operational clarity, and an efficient management of flows. The public accesses the stands through four stair cores located at the four corners of the building, allowing a balanced and direct distribution of spectators.
The main sports hall and seating structure form the central volume of the project, while the remaining functions are organized on both sides according to a regular 3.45 m structural grid. We concentrated all complementary functions on the western side of the building, preserving the potential for future expansion without affecting the integrity of the main hall. This strategy also allows the space beneath the stands to be used as a warm-up and training area for athletes, adding flexibility and value to the project.
The façade design is characterized by horizontal slit openings, carefully designed to control glare and reduce visual discomfort for both athletes and spectators, ensuring optimal viewing and playing conditions.
The overall architectural expression is defined by structural clarity, modernity, and functional efficiency, with a strong volumetric presence that asserts the building’s identity along the main road while expressing a contemporary and technological architectural language.
