Located on the outskirts of Bamako, along the banks of the Niger River, we conceived Villa I.D. as a contemporary waterfront residence establishing a strong dialogue between architecture, landscape, and nature. The project fully takes advantage of its exceptional site, where the river acts as both a visual extension and a natural climatic regulator for the living spaces.
Our architectural concept is based on clarity, horizontality, and openness. We organized the villa as a sequence of fluid spaces oriented toward the river, where the boundaries between interior and exterior are intentionally blurred to enhance natural light, cross-ventilation, and panoramic views. The design promotes a continuous relationship with the landscape, making the Niger River a central element of the architectural experience.
The main challenge of the project was to respond to Bamako’s tropical climate while ensuring comfort, elegance, and spatial quality. We integrated deep overhangs, shaded terraces, and controlled openings to manage solar gain while preserving transparency toward the water. High-performance glazing and carefully selected mineral materials contribute to both thermal efficiency and architectural refinement.
The villa expresses a contemporary architectural language defined by pure volumes, minimal expression, and strong integration into its natural context. Rather than dominating the site, the architecture blends into it, creating a calm and immersive living environment where water, light, and space interact continuously.
